Dr. Carlos Asilis

Carlos Asilis is Co-founder & CIO of Glovista Investments. Prior to Glovista, Carlos managed global macro strategies focusing on global equities, fixed income, currencies and commodities at Proxima Alfa Investments (USA) LLC (2003 to 2007).

Between 1999 and 2003, Carlos worked at JP Morgan Chase, initially as the firm’s first Chief Global Emerging Markets Strategist and subsequently as Chief US and Chief Investment Strategist. Carlos’ contributions at JP Morgan Chase and other investment banks have been recognized in multiple institutional investor polls, including Institutional Investors Survey, Reuters Survey, Greenwich Polls and Latin Finance Awards. Carlos has also served as Director of Proprietary Trading Strategy in the Emerging Markets Fixed Income division at Credit Suisse First Boston and Union Bank of Switzerland. At Merrill Lynch, Carlos served as Chief Global Emerging Markets Currency Strategist, and Senior Latin America Equity Strategist.

Prior to 1994, Carlos was a Research Economist at the IMF where he was the lead Economist responsible for overseeing the economic surveillance of the Fund’s assistance programs to China and the Russian Federation. At the IMF, Carlos also authored an innovative technical report analyzing the US public debt, “The U.S. Public Debt: Implications for Growth”, Working Paper 4, January 1994, International Monetary Fund, Washington DC .

Prior to joining the IMF in 1992, Carlos served as Economics professor at Georgetown University, Lecturer at the University of Chicago and Visiting Professor at the Stockholm School of Economics. Carlos’ academic contributions in scholarly journals include work in the fields of Global Finance, Open Economy Macroeconomics, Pure Economic Theory, Labor Economics, Game Theory and Global Trade.

Carlos received a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago in 1988 and holds an honors BSE Degree in Finance and Economics from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.


Darshan Bhatt

Darshan Bhatt is Co-founder and Deputy CIO of Glovista Investments. Prior to Glovista, Darshan co-managed global macro strategies focusing on global equities, fixed income, currencies and commodities at Proxima Alfa Investments (USA) LLC (2003 to 2007). He worked at the firm’s Madrid (Spain) and New York office locations.

Prior to 2003, Darshan worked in JP Morgan’s US Equity Strategy and Institutional Investor-ranked Global Emerging Markets Equity Strategy team in New York. Darshan also worked in JP Morgan’s Mergers and Acquisitions group, where he worked on transactions in the IT services, semiconductor equipment, pharmaceutical and energy sectors. Darshan has also worked at SBK Brooks Investment Corp where he was involved in structuring and origination of municipal bonds. Prior to coming to the USA, Darshan worked as a tax consultant in two accounting firms in India specializing in income tax consulting.

Darshan holds a Bachelor Degree in Accounting from Bombay University and a Masters in Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University majoring in Finance and Strategy. He is also a Chartered Accountant (placed 33rd in the National Exam administered by the Institute of Charted Accountants of India), a US Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Chartered Market Technician (CMT).


Ignacio Gil

Ignacio Gil is a strategic advisor at Glovista. A seasoned investment professional and an active investor, he advises a number of HNW individuals and families and is an advocate of conscious capital practices in the asset management industry.

He started an international career in banking with BBVA in New York in 1994 in the syndicated corporate loans sector and transitioned into private wealth management with Santander Group in 1997 in Miami, FL. Ignacio brings 15 years of wealth management and advisory experience acquired at Santander Group, MORABANC and PRS Group Latam, a Miami-based Multi-Family Office he co-founded and led from 1999-2009. He also co-founded Dapsilia Consulting, a Spanish real estate private equity and advisory firm, and Inversora Santa Fe, sponsor of a $200 million greenfield investment in Montego Bay, Jamaica comprising 2 luxury hotels. Ignacio serves on the Board of the Consciousness Development Foundation since 2014 and regularly lectures on Conscious Capitalism and Money and Spirituality.

Ignacio earned an MBA from the University of Miami (Florida) and holds a law degree from Universidad Autonoma de Madrid. He is a Certified Leadership and Professional Development Coach by the Tavistock Institute in London.


Mary Bourque

Mary Bourque leads the Energy, Materials, Industrials and Consumer sector research at Glovista. Prior to joining Glovista, Mary served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer at Educando (formerly Worldfund), a US-based nonprofit organization dedicated to operating educational training programs in Latin America. Prior to that, Mary spent over 15 years at JP Morgan, most recently (from 2003-2005) as Managing Director of Americas Equity Research where she was co-head of the 300-person research department and managed the energy, materials, industrials and consumer sector research effort. As Director of Latin America Equity Research, from 2000-2002, Mary worked with Glovista’s co-founders, Carlos Asilis and Darshan Bhatt. From 1994-2002, she was a Senior Equity Analyst covering the Latin American Conglomerates and Oil & Gas sectors, and was ranked by Institutional Investor in both sectors, including eight consecutive years in conglomerates (5 years as #1), and five years in the Oil & Gas sector. Mary began her career in 1990 as an Associate in Latin America Mergers and Acquisitions, based in New York and Buenos Aires. Mary holds an MA in International Economics and International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a BA in Chemistry from Dartmouth College.

Dennis Tracey has over 25 years of experience in the investment marketplace working with a variety of investors and institutional funds during this period. Dennis most recently was a partner and Managing Director at Parenteau Associates, responsible for institutional marketing and client service. Prior to that, Dennis was the Director of Marketing and Client Services for Simms Capital Management. He began his career with Aetna and eventually moved to a senior level position with Aeltus Investment Management working with large institutional funds in a business development and client service capacity. He received his MBA from The University of Hartford and a BA in Economics from Eastern Connecticut University.

Al Bryant, CFA, is a portfolio manager and managing director for the Glovista Fundamental EM Equity Strategy. Al joined Glovista Investments in May of 2023. Prior to Glovista, Al spent over 10 years managing the Emerging Market strategy at River and Mercantile and Credit Suisse. Prior to running the Emerging Market strategy, Al focused on developing and implementing global equity investment strategies based upon the Industrial Life Cycle (ILC) framework within the Credit Suisse HOLT organization. The ILC framework is a structured global equity investment process that Al has been developing since 2004. Prior to joining Credit Suisse, Al spent four years as a portfolio manager for institutional and private clients at Segall Bryant & Hamill Investment Counsel, based in Chicago. Al holds an MBA in finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a BA in urban studies and economics from the College of Wooster.
